Keep On Keeping On
It's Wednesday, Hump Day and most importantly, it's Happy, Healthy, Hump Day!
Maybe it's because I'm getting older.
Maybe it's because I still have my 94 year old father around and I'm watching and listening to him and his cronies.
Maybe it's because my grandmother lived to be 100 and was pretty vibrant 'til the end.
All I know is that it really bugs me when I hear people blame their age for all their limitations.
This week I'm not holding back -- I'm just going to put it out there. Here we go...
If you want to live to a ripe old age and still get the most out of life consider this:
Keep exercising -- your body, your mind, your rights
Our bodies are made up of muscles and bones and they're meant to stay in motion. Our brains have neuroplasticity -- this means we can keep learning right up until the end. We have many rights, but it's important to vote and continue to make choices.
Keep seeking and exploring
A sense of adventure and expanding our minds is stimulation and also arouses our curiosity.
Keep working
You can retire from the job you might have had for many years, but don't just stop all together. Find something meaningful which might mean volunteering or doing something you always wanted to do, maybe a new career!
Keep listening
When we listen we learn and are open to something new and possibly unexpected.
Keep dreaming
When we have nothing to plan or look forward to, we begin to decline. It's good to have something on the horizon.
Keep engaging
Stay connected with friends and family. Look for opportunities to make new friends and make sure to have people of all ages in your life.
Keep caring and sharing
You've earned your wisdom. You don't have to always give advice, but be generous with your encouragement. Be a loving mentor whenever the opportunity arises. Keep looking for ways to grow, no matter what your age and, as always, be care-full.
Usually I charge for a consult with me, but if you contact me here, you can get a 30 minute consult for free! Let’s find 3 things you can do that keeps you going!
